About

The way we see it

Come for the nature. Stay for the rest.

Ki-Ra Holistic Living

A nature hotel where Ayurvedic wisdom lives quietly in the background — available to anyone who wants it, invisible to those who don't.

A nature-first boutique hotel
Botanical gardens, open-air architecture, resident animals, and the Caribbean coast as your backyard. The land is the experience.

Rooted in Ayurveda
One of the oldest systems of natural healing — woven into everything here, from the food we cook to the treatments we offer. You don't need to know it to feel it.

Fully personalised, always
No two stays look the same. We meet every guest where they are — whether that's a hammock and nothing else, or a full Panchakarma cleanse.

What is Ki-Ra

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

Simply stay
Slow mornings, good food, open skies, the sound of nature. This alone is enough.

Ayurvedic treatments
From Abhyanga oil massage to Shirodhara and herbal therapies — each one tailored to you.

Wellness programmes
Immersive multi-day retreats, Panchakarma, and guided cleanse programmes for those seeking depth.

Experiences & activities
Yoga, bonfires, mud cleanses, desert island adventures, retreats with visiting teachers. Joy is part of healing here.

Our food is fresh, tropical, and Ayurvedic — prepared with the same care we bring to everything else. Nourishment is never an afterthought.

Kyra Montagu

Founder · Naturopath · Ayurvedic Specialist

Kyra didn't build Ki-Ra from a business plan. She built it from a life — one spent between the UK, Spain, India, and the island that raised her, gathering knowledge from every place and bringing it home to the Dominican Republic.

A Naturopathic Doctor with deep roots in Ayurvedic medicine, herbal healing, and yoga, Kyra has spent years learning how the body restores itself when given the right conditions. Her training spans three countries. Her real education never stopped.

She is a mother of five, a lover of this land, and someone who believes that a well-lived life includes joy as much as it includes healing. That belief is the backbone of Ki-Ra.

Ki-Ra began as a vision — a place where nature wasn't the backdrop but the point, where people from anywhere could arrive, slow down, and find something real. A space where community could grow quietly, around shared meals, open skies, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you're not in a hurry.

That vision is still unfolding. Every day here is another step toward it.

Simon Furlonger

Co-Founder · Land & Grounds

Simon grew up in the English countryside with soil under his boots and questions in his head — about nature, the universe, and what connects us to both.

That curiosity led him through the sciences, comparative religion, history, and the ancient traditions. Not as separate subjects, but as different languages describing the same thing.

It's an understanding now rooted in the land itself — in what's planted at Ki-Ra, how it's tended, and why. Simon knows this ground intimately, and cares for it that way.

Ki-Ra exists on land that is alive. That's not an accident.

Our Philosophy

Our name, Ki-Ra, comes from the indigenous Taíno language and means “Place of the Earth Spirit.”
It reflects our deep connection to nature, the land, and the ancient wisdom that guides our way of living and healing.

Our guiding manifesto has always been this:
“When humans remember they are a part of nature, healing begins—for ourselves, and for the planet.”

This simple truth shapes everything we do at Ki-Ra, reminding us that reconnection is the first step toward true wellness and harmony.

FUN!

At Ki-Ra, we believe that true health begins with reconnecting to nature—and that Ayurveda and natural living can guide us there. But just as essential on this journey are fun, joy, and laughter, because healing doesn’t have to be serious—it should feel good. We want you to feel alive, inspired, and most of all, to have fun while you heal.

Holistic Health

We understand health as a whole—not just the body, but the mind, spirit, our relationships, and the environment that surrounds us. Holistic living is at the heart of everything we do, from the way we care for the land to how we connect with each other and our guests.

You’re welcome to come for a holiday and do as little as you like, maybe have a simple, rejuvenating treatment or take an excursion to the local island - or dive into a longer healing experience tailored to your needs. Whether you're looking to restore balance, explore Ayurvedic therapies, or just soak in some nurturing Caribbean energy, you’ll find a path that feels just right for you.

Food As Medicine

We believe that food is one of the most powerful medicines, and preparing it is a true joy for us. At Ki-Ra, we create vibrant, tropical, and nourishing dishes using fresh, local ingredients that awaken the senses and support healing.

Thanks to the incredible variety offered by the Dominican Republic, we’re proud to offer a rich vegetarian menu, with options for those exploring detox or deeper healing programs.

We try to source from nearby producers—always aiming for the freshest, most organic ingredients possible, and also offer a flexible menu for those who do not wish to be solely vegetarian.

Our botanical gardens are a vital part of our kitchen and healing work, providing many of the herbs used in treatments, daily teas, and juices.

Seeing people heal through natural foods is one of our greatest joys—it truly makes us smile.

Access for All

Healing is not a luxury—it’s a birthright. We deeply believe that everyone deserves access to natural healing and a safe, welcoming space to reconnect with themselves and the world around them.

That’s why we do our best to keep our pricing fair and our doors open to all. We want Ki-Ra to feel like home—a place where anyone can experience the beauty and transformative power of nature.
